An introduction to investigating incidents

• Employees and Team Members – Anyone in the organisation who may be involved in reporting incidents or affected by the outcomes of investigations.
• Human Resources Professionals – Those who may need to understand incident investigation processes to address workplace safety concerns and manage compliance.
• New Health and Safety Practitioners – Beginners in the health and safety field who need to build awareness of incident investigation processes as part of their foundational knowledge.

This course would benefit anyone in an organisation seeking a general understanding of incident investigation to support safety, compliance, and organisational learning. This would typically be small businesses and general staff. You will enhance your understanding of how incidents are reviewed, however, it is not intended to equip you to conduct investigations independently.

Upon completing the assessment, you will receive a certificate recognising your completion of this awareness course.

The course covers:

• The key terms used are accident, near miss and incident.
• The six steps followed after an incident.
• Explanation of immediate, underlying and root causes.
• Identify how to evaluate and respond to an incident.

There are no entry requirements for this course.

There is a graded assessment at the end of the short course that must be passed to complete this training.

This is a non-accredited course. It does not result in a formal qualification. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful passing of the assessment.
