Course information
Driving and Riding Safely for Work is one of several short courses that is included for FREE with a British Safety Council Membership. You will receive 100 e-learning licenses each year.
Course overview
Nearly 30,000 people are killed or seriously injured in road collisions each year, making it a major source of preventable death, serious injury and trauma. This short course aims to enhance your awareness of road risks, enabling you to implement controls to reduce the risk of harm and stay in control of your vehicle.
The course covers:
- General introduction to understand the reasons for controlling the risks from driving/riding for work.
- Before a journey, exploring how to plan your route and check your vehicle. We also discuss throughout the course electrical vehicles and charging.
- During a journey, how to how to manage distraction, stress, tiredness and to stay fully in control of your vehicle. Understand about defensive driving and consideration for other vulnerable road users. And how to prepare and react to weather changes, breakdowns or emergencies.
- After a journey, how to report any incidents or issues with your vehicle.
- In the final section, we discuss company policies and risk assessments.
The course is full of interactive, engaging content, that uses scenarios to embed knowledge throughout.

- Recognise how driving behaviour impacts risk.
- Implement effective control measures.
