Learning outcomes

This self-paced COSHH Risk Assessment course is designed to give learners a strong foundation and the confidence to contribute effectively to COSHH risk assessing activities. It can also be used as a refresher for responsible persons.

The course raises awareness of how to carry out a suitable and sufficient COSHH risk assessment, including identifying hazardous substances, understanding how they may cause harm, and applying appropriate control measures.

On completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of COSHH risk assessments
  • Know the main types of hazardous substances and how they may cause harm
  • Understand the principles of controlling risks associated with hazardous substances
  • Understand how a COSHH risk assessment is undertaken in practice.

Assessment and results

At the end of the course you will need to complete a multiple-choice assessment and an interactive risk assessment activity, which will test your knowledge and understanding of a COSHH risk assessment.

Qualification level

This is a non-accredited course. It does not result in a formal qualification.
