Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification is for anyone who currently works in construction or wants to work in construction, as well as for those already in the industry looking to refresh their knowledge. It is ideal for anyone wishing to apply for the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Labourer Card (Green Card), necessary for work on a UK construction site.
The qualification assumes no prior knowledge and considers the fact that learners come from diverse education and employment backgrounds. The training is exceptionally easy to understand and administer.
Having a valid CSCS card and passing the CITB test are both mandatory requirements of working in the construction industry because they grant employees access to UK construction sites as non-skilled workers.
The Labourer Card qualification was developed in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is regulated by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

What does it cover?
Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification provides the learner with everything they need to know about maintaining and improving health and safety at work. It delivers essential knowledge about key terms, legal responsibilities and reasons for good health and safety on a construction site.
The learner will also learn about personal protective equipment, emergencies, accident reporting, and dealing with ill-health within the construction environment. Successful qualification will earn a candidate four credits.

How does it work?
Learning materials are provided to Approved Centres which subsequently deliver the training (recommended 6-40 hours, depending on the learners). Centres then request the examination (available either online or paper-based), on a date and time of their choosing. The provisional results of online examinations are available immediately, while paper-based results and certificates are issued within five working days of receipt.
Please note that from September 2019 the pass threshold mark for the assessments will be revised to 32 out of 40 questions (the current pass threshold mark is 26 out of 40 questions). This change is being introduced in line with the recommendations of the Construction and the Built Environment Awarding Body Forum that are applicable to all Awarding Organisations offering the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.
