What is this course?
The Vibration Awareness short course is designed for anyone who uses vibrating tools and equipment in the workplace, such as dentists, construction workers, landscapers, and heavy equipment operators. It’s also suitable for supervisors and managers who have responsibility for safeguarding their employees and minimising the risks from vibration. The course covers Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) and Whole Body Vibration (WBV) and discusses effects from exposure, such as Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), Raynaud's Disease, Vibration White Finger (VWF) and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). By the end of the course, participants will understand the basics of vibration, know how to find and apply HSE guidelines, understand the legal requirements, interpret acceptable vibration levels, assess and control vibration risks, and adopt safe work practices to minimise exposure.
