Vibration Awareness
Course information
Course overview
The course covers Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) and Whole Body Vibration (WBV) and discusses effects from exposure, such as Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), Raynaud's Disease, Vibration White Finger (VWF) and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS).
By the end of the course, participants will understand the basics of vibration, know how to find and apply HSE guidelines, understand the legal requirements, interpret acceptable vibration levels, assess and control vibration risks, and adopt safe work practices to minimise exposure.
Learning outcomes
On completion, learners will be able to:
- Have basic awareness of vibration and its impact at work.
- Find HSE guidelines, in particular, the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.
- Have an interpretation of acceptable vibration levels for HAV and WBV.
- Identify the steps for assessing and controlling vibration risks.
- Implement safe work practices to minimise vibration exposure.
