What is the initiative?

From Service to Safety offers Service leavers and veterans who are already or about to be made unemployed the opportunity to train for a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. This is a widely recognised UK qualification for managers, supervisors, and safety professionals, focusing on risk management and safety culture. Places will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis by British Safety Council once full applications have been received. The training will be delivered free of charge by British Safety Council’s high-quality trainers, who will also provide wider career and pastoral support. The examinations board, NEBOSH is also supporting the initiative by funding the candidates’ examinations fees. 

Training will start in April 2026, with 100 places available throughout the year.

Who this initiative is open to?

Eligible participants without access to resettlement funding, will be referred through the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), who are the official provider of resettlement for the Armed Forces and have supported 340,000 Service leavers over more than 27 years. The CTP provide Transition, Training and Employment support, which is delivered by expert trainers and trusted partners, tailored for Service leavers, quality-assured and accountable to the MoD.

How will it work?

To ensure that we are able to support the broadest range of learners, there are courses scheduled throughout the year. Training will be delivered digitally by British Safety Council's world-leading trainers who bring a wealth of OSH training expertise which Service leavers and veterans can benefit from.

There are 100 spaces available as a part of this initiative which will be referred through Career Transition Partnership (CTP), all applicants will be required to prove their eligibility, and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis by British Safety Council once full applications have been received.

Is this initiative open to me?

Access to this initiative is by referral only, through our partner Career Transition Partnership (CTP), subject to meeting strict eligibility criteria.

What to expect after registering interest

Successful referrals will be contacted by British Safety Council to confirm eligibility, outline the next steps, and organise enrolment onto the next available course. If successful, you will receive joining instructions, access details for the virtual classroom, and key course information in advance of your start date.

What if I am not selected?

We expect a high volume of referrals for this initiative. Unsuccessful applicants will be added to a reserve list and may be contacted should additional places become available. You may also wish to speak with your CTP advisor about alternative training routes or future opportunities.
