Johan Kemp, Lead Management of Change Co-Ordinator at Johnson Matthey, recently completed several NEBOSH qualifications with British Safety Council, including the NEBOSH Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.
Eager to enhance his strategic understanding of health and safety, Johan enrolled in the Diploma program to strengthen his leadership skills, support his colleagues, and embed best practices within his organisation.
Reflecting on his learning journey, Johan described the course as “intellectually challenging but deeply rewarding.”
“It demanded a high level of critical thinking and gave me a much more strategic understanding of health and safety. I can now better support junior team members and lead within health and safety, rather than simply ticking boxes,” he said.
Johan also praised his tutor and the support received throughout his studies with British Safety Council:
“The support from David was second to none. He was genuinely the best tutor I’ve had. His feedback was detailed and constructive, always helping me understand where I could improve. That kind of encouragement made a real difference to my confidence and success.”
Having studied with other providers previously, Johan shared that British Safety Council’s modern, structured, and supportive approach stood out:
“The online learning platform was engaging and flexible, which really suited my schedule. Even though we were studying virtually, it still felt like a real classroom environment. The structure, materials, and motivation from the tutors kept me focused throughout.”
Completing his NEBOSH qualifications has had a lasting impact on Johan’s professional development and leadership style:
“It’s been transformative. The courses strengthened my confidence and helped me become more of a mentor, encouraging others to speak up and helping integrate health and safety more effectively across the business.”
Congratulations to Johan on his outstanding achievement and dedication to advancing health, safety, and wellbeing in the workplace. His commitment to continuous learning exemplifies how professional development can empower individuals to lead positive change and create safer working environments for all.
