International Award in Health and Safety in the Mining Industry for all Operatives
Despite considerable efforts in many countries, the rates of death, injury and disease among the world's mineworkers remain high, and mining remains the most hazardous occupation when the number of people exposed to risk is taken into account. (ILO 2019).
Between 2005 and 2014, over 1750 mining workers were killed worldwide in the course of their work. According to the International labour organisation, mining generates 8% of fatal workforce accidents, despite only employing 1% of the global labour force.
The International Award in Health and Safety in the Mining Industry for all Operatives provides learners with an essential foundation in relevant matters of health and safety. It is suitable for individuals wanting to work in the mining industry and those already employed in the industry seeking to renew or consolidate their knowledge in this area, although no previous knowledge is needed.
