RATP Dev London does?

RATP Dev is a global firm providing transport solutions across four continents. In London RAPT Dev run and maintain nearly 1000 buses in ten depots, completing over 60 million customer journeys each year.

Products

RATP Dev have benefited from British Safety Council training (IOSH and NEBOSH), operated as an Approved Centre, allowing them to deliver British Safety Council qualifications and have used our rigourous audit and consulting services to help them reach the gloablly recongnised OHSAS 18001. As well as being a member for eight-years they regularly attend British Safety Council seminars and conferences and have in-company safety briefings.

"The British Safety Council has provided superlative training services to our company over many years. They are trusted to tutor and train our staff with complete confidence. I’d recommend British Safety Council for their professionalism in the training arena, but also for their close support during the OHSAS 18001 accreditation process."
Jon Pike, Head of Safety and Risk, RATP Dev London

How we helped

  • Our support on OHSAS 18001 drove them to revise, update and renew their health and safety management systems and procedures; including policies, statements, assessments and audits
  • RATP Dev carried out a staff survey in 2017 to “take the temperature” of their safety culture and found staff acknowledge the importance of safety in the workplace, they also understood that safety is their responsibility and not just the role of the managers. Quite an achievement, and they got there with the British Safety Council as a partner
  • Winning an International Safety Award was another success; it showed staff that they have moved forward in promoting a healthy workplace and demonstrated their commitment to making their organisation an even safer place to be.

Business issue

RATP Dev’s first aim was to improve their safety training; with a pass rate on IOSH and NEBOSH of just 45% they knew they had the opportunity to get better. Since partnering with the British Safety Council on IOSH they have doubled the pass rate to 95% an incredible achievement.

Resource from the British Safety Council allowed RATP Dev to manage foundation training internally, which meant they could tailor all their case studies and learning materials towards transport making them relevant and more engaging for the audience.

Getting the ISO 18001 accreditation was a key milestone; bringing their management system up to an internationally recognised standard whilst ensuring they were spreading the safety message and culture throughout the entire company of 3,500 staff.
