IOSH Managing Safely: Live Online

Your Live Online course 

Live Online means that: 

  • You join remotely using a PC, laptop or tablet 
  • You will be able to see the tutor, PowerPoint slides and videos 
  • You can interact verbally with the tutor and with the rest of the group  
  • You have the option of having your camera on or off 

You will be sent a hard copy of the student workbook prior to the course.   

Prior to the course 

In the week before the course, our Live Online co-ordinator will contact you with details of how to access the Live Online training.  It is very simple and involves downloading Zoom software on to your device.  If you cannot download the software (due to company restrictions), you can join over the web. 

Course timings 

Each day will start promptly at 0900.  You will be able to log-in from 0850.  

Day 3 will finish slightly earlier (c.1500).

Managing Safely covers: 

  • Assessing risks 
  • Controlling risks  
  • Understanding responsibilities  
  • Understanding hazards  
  • Investigating incidents  
  • Measuring performance 

Assessment 

multi-format (mainly multiple-choice) assessment is undertaken online after the course. 

practical risk assessment project is undertaken based on your workplace.   

Candidates who attend the whole course and successfully complete the assessments are awarded a certificate from the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH). 

Learning agreement 

The British Safety Council will: 

  • Use suitably qualified and experienced tutors to deliver the tuition 
  • Cover all the course learning outcomes 
  • Provide you with advice on how to pass the assessment 
  • Respond in a timely manner to any queries 
  • Be diligent and courteous at all times. 

 You must: 

  • Attend all scheduled sessions 
  • Contribute to group discussions in a positive manner 
  • Endeavour to be active, rather than passive in terms of learning 
  • Pay particular attention to advice regarding revision and examination technique 
  • Bring any learning difficulties to our attention at the earliest opportunity
