Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment
This qualification is aimed at those with responsibility for carrying out a risk assessment in the workplace.
Online assessments £38.00 (not offered paper-based, prices are excluding VAT).
Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment qualification gets more people qualified to carry out risk assessments in order to put in place appropriate control measures. Employers have a legal responsibility to conduct 'suitable and sufficient' assessments of health and safety risks to employees and others not in their employment.
The qualification provides supervisors and employees with knowledge and understanding of the risk assessment process and the skills required to undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment. The specification is based on the Health and Safety Executive's Five Steps to Risk Assessment and has been regulated by the Qualifications Regulators at Level 2 in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
The online assessment task relates directly to the candidate's workplace and tests the application of learning in a practical context. While it is a stand-alone qualification, it allows for lateral progression to other British Safety Council qualifications covering specific risk assessments in COSHH, DSE, Fire and Manual Handling, and progression to the Level 3 Certificate Occupational Safety and Health.

What does it cover?
Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment highlights the reasons for conducting risk assessments and outlines the main legislation relating to risk assessment. It teaches the techniques for collecting evidence and their limitations. The teaching identifies health and safety hazards, who might be harmed and how. It also teaches how to calculate an appropriate risk rating and the factors affecting the likelihood and severity of harm.
The programme covers how to identify and evaluate existing control measures and propose additional measures. It teaches how to apply the hierarchy of controls and the revision of a risk rating. Learners are also taught how to record the findings of a risk assessment and make recommendations based on the findings, as well as how to review and revise a risk assessment.
This qualification is entirely online and completed with specific reference to the learner's environment.
