What does it cover?
Level 2 Award in Principles of Fire Safety qualification covers the causes and characteristics of fire and smoke spread in the workplace and the components of the fire triangle. It also covers the hazards during and after a fire, means of escape, methods of fire detection, raising the alarm plus how to safely extinguish the different types of fire – whether it be electrical, relating to hazardous materials or any other.
Also included are legal responsibilities, fire risk assessments, and the role of the fire warden. This is a free-standing qualification designed for delivery as a short programme. It is also well-suited for integration into wider vocational programmes of study or as part of an induction programme.
How does it work?
Learning materials are provided to Approved Centres who subsequently deliver the training (recommended six hours). Centres then request the examination – available either online or paper-based – on a date and time of their choosing. The results of online examinations are available immediately while paper-based results and certificates are issued within five working days of receipt.
