International Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
The International Certificate is for health and safety professionals who want to progress their careers. It covers international standards and is ideal for people operating in work environments outside the UK or in multinational organisations. Holders of the International Certificate can apply for technical membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH), the world’s largest health and safety membership organisation. Many students progress to the International Diploma (Grad IOSH) and from there to chartered status (CMIOSH).

The qualification is divided into two units:
- Unit 1 – Principles of health and safety management
- Unit 2 – Controlling hazards in the workplace
- Unit 1 is assessed by a 2-hour written examination
- Unit 2 is assessed by a 2-hour written examination

In your workplace
We can visit your workplace and deliver the course on dates of your choice. This is an effective way of training a group of people as it saves on travel costs and allows students to keep in touch with work.
The two-week course is delivered as two 1-week blocks.
Assessment is via two written examinations taken at a British Council office in your region
