About the authors
Tim Marsh, then a post-doc at the University of Manchester, was one of the team leaders of the first European work in the practical application of Behavioural Safety techniques. He formed Ryder-Marsh Sagfety in 1994 and has worked as a consultant in the fields of safety leadership, safety culture and organisational culture, involving more than 400 companies worldwide.
Louise Ward is the policy, standard and communication director at the British Safety Council. She is a chartered Health and Safety professional with over 17 years' experience in a variety of sectors, including nuclear power, investment banking, facilities management, manufacturing, railway operations and waste water management.
