NEBOSH Course Information
What’s the outcome?
You will achieve the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation Certificate which is an SCQF Level 6 qualification (equivalent to RQF Level 3, similar to an A Level).
A comprehensive foundation course that will provide you with a good understanding of investigation techniques and effective action plans to prevent a recurrence, with the confidence to apply your knowledge in the workplace.
Course requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
Course overview
The qualification comprises one unit:
Unit INV1 covers the techniques and processes for investigating incidents, including interview strategies, gathering evidence, producing an action plan, contributing to team investigations for large incidents and evaluating how to impact the safety culture in your organisation. By the end of the training, you will be able to investigate simple incidents unaided.
For classroom courses unit INV1 is taught over 1 day.
Assessment
Unit INV1: You will be assessed on the application of the PEACE interview model for three separate witness interviews and your ability to draw conclusions from the evidence that you have gathered by producing an action plan to try to stop recurrence of the incident presented. On average you should allocate approximately 1 hour to complete the exam. You will receive a ‘Pass’ or ‘Refer’ (fail) for each part of your assessment.
Results and Certificates
NEBOSH will email you your results directly approximately 50 working days from your assessment.
You will receive your certificate parchment within 8 weeks of the successful completion of both unit assessments.
Profession recognition
NEBOSH qualifications are recognised by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
