Frequently Asked Questions – Audit and Advisory

Our health and safety and environmental consultancy services are based entirely on customer needs and involve one of our experts being made available to support improvements in performance in specific areas, or to support the development of management systems more generally.

We offer BS OHSAS 18001: 2007 Certification, a Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit and a Five Star Environmental Audit.  We also offer a Combined Health and Safety Management Audit which combines the Five Star Audit and BS OHSAS 18001 in a single, seamless process.

BS OHSAS 18001:2007 is an internationally recognised standard used to assess an organisation's occupational health and safety management system.

Our Five Star Audit is an internationally recognised audit system used by leading organisations to benchmark their health and safety management system against current best practice.

The new specification continues to offer you the opportunity to progress toward a genuine best practice occupational health and safety management system(s) and the subsequent business benefits that this can produce. The new specification also now aligns best practice safety management indicators against a Plan - Do - Check - Act management model.
As part of the British Safety Council’s commitment to the continual improvement of our products, together with a recognition of recent developments in both legislative and safety management trends, our five star audit specification(s) are reviewed on an annual basis.

The subsequent 2015 version of the Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit specification has been designed to complement the improved processes relating to auditor standardisation and report documentation, to ensure a quality experience for the auditee.
If your audit is due to take place before 1 August 2015 it will continue as planned on the current specification.
If your audit is due to take place after this date it will be to the new August 2015 specification.
