Construction

The British Safety Council has strong membership representation in the construction sector. The construction sector interest group comprises senior representatives drawn from our member organisations in the UK.

As an organisation committed to working closely with our members, it was decided in 2011 to set up a sector interest group to enable our members to engage more directly with us and each other on key health and safety issues and challenges. This forum is also used to engage with other key stakeholders including the government, the regulator and other bodies active within this area in the construction sector.

Initially the group met twice yearly, this has now been increased to quarterly. The half day meetings cover major health and safety policy issues and regulatory matters affecting our construction members, as well as providing the opportunity for the knowledge sharing and good practice.

Crossrail Learning Legacy

Crossrail’s Learning Legacy portal aims to share knowledge and insight. It does so through case studies and technical papers providing lessons and recommendations to help others. It also provides documents and templates that have been used successfully on the Crossrail programme which can be ‘pinched with pride’ by other projects, and datasets will be made available that can inform future research projects. There are a number of themes within this website, including health and safety and environment.

The British Safety Council is pleased to be involved as a learning legacy partner in relation to the health (health and wellbeing) and safety theme.
