The British Safety Council is developing its membership with organisations who operate in the healthcare sector. The healthcare sector interest group comprises senior representatives drawn from our member organisations in the UK.

Overall the aim of the group is to increase the influence of the British Safety Council and our members as an authoritative voice on health and safety, including with key stakeholders such as government and the regulator, and in line with our vision as a charity that ‘no-one should be injured or made ill through their work’.

In relation to how this is achieved, we believe the following objectives will assist in achieve this by working closely with our members in this sector (as well as others) to:

  • Publicise their achievements in managing health and safety risks
  • Promote best practice
  • Influence health and safety policy, law and regulation
  • Help build the evidence supporting the business case for good health and safety management.

Upcoming meetings

The intention is that the group should meet as a minimum twice within a calendar year for up to half day meeting, which will address major health and safety policy issues and regulatory matters affecting our healthcare members and provide the opportunity for them to share knowledge and good practice.

Our next meeting is taking place in January 2020.
