The integration of safety and health into education

British Safety Council in collaboration with DGUV, Germany’s umbrella organisation for accident and health insurance, has produced a report on how safety and health (OSH) is taught to children and adults.

Drawing on a European network’s good practice examples to promote OSH education, the report looks at common approaches and trends in education and training at all age levels, both academic and vocational. The report highlights the importance of participation, networking and sustainability in learning.

British Safety Council’s campaign Speak Up, Stay Safe promotes OSH education for young people, recognising that young people are more likely to have an accident when they start work than at any other time of life. In gaining knowledge about their own safety and health, young people will be more confident to speak up if they feel unsafe.
