The International Safety Awards are now in their 60th year which will be marked at our Gala dinner.  The dinner will take place at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Friday 27 April 2018 and is open to anyone with an interest in workplace health and safety.

Entering the ISA 2018

Eligibility to enter

The International Safety Awards are open to businesses all over the world who care about occupational health, safety and wellbeing. Applications must be made by site or business unit. To be eligible, a senior person at that site must confirm that since 1 January 2017, the site or business unit has NOT:

  • Suffered any fatalities
  • Been subject to any prohibition notices
  • Been the subject of any convictions in relation to health and safety
  • Had any ongoing criminal investigations or prosecutions pending in relation to this site/business unit

Please note that checks will be made and a false declaration will lead to disqualification.

How to enter

To win one of our annual International Safety Awards, applicants are required to: 

  • Purchase entry licences
  • Allocate licences to yourself or others to complete
  • Answer a series of questions about their health and safety management which are marked by a panel of independent adjudicators
  • Submit your ISA 2018 application

The British Safety Council is pleased to invite applications for four additional awards, which are each free and optional to enter. Applicants may enter all or whichever ones they wish.

1. Health and Safety Champion of the Year

The Health and Safety Champion of the Year should be an employee who, in your opinion, has gone the extra mile to ensure the health, safety and welfare of colleagues and others.

The employee should be 24 years or over, not a member of the health and safety team and not a member of the senior management team. Enter this award →

2. Young Health and Safety Champion of the Year

The Young Health and Safety Champion of the Year should be an employee aged 16-23 who, in your opinion, has gone the extra mile to ensure the health, safety and welfare of colleagues and others. The employee should not be a member of the health and safety team. Enter this award →

3. Award for employee wellbeing initiative

This new award has been introduced to recognise and reward those organisations that can demonstrate a proactive and effective approach to improving employee wellbeing.

All initiatives must have been started and concluded between 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017 and there must be a clear objective and a measurable outcome.

Initiatives should be over and above routine activities and should be new or unique within the organisation. The employee should not be a member of the health and safety team. Enter this award →

4. Award for innovation to improve occupational health and safety

This new award has been introduced to recognise and reward those organisations that can demonstrate fresh and innovative approach(es) to improving occupational health and safety.

All innovations must have been started and concluded between 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017 and there must be a clear objective and a measurable outcome.

Innovations should be over and above routine activities and should be new or unique within the organisation. Enter this award →
