The British Safety Council is proud to be supporting the 9th Annual HSE Forum in Energy taking place at the Doha Grand Hyatt, Qatar later this year.
This major event, which is officially supported by Qatar Petroleum, has the patronage of HE Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum.
Fleming Gulf’s 9th Annual HSE Forum in Energy will bring together over 350 leading regional and international industrial stakeholders from the oil and gas sectors to share knowledge and identify solutions essential to ensuring effective health and safety management and sustainable environmental practices. Those attending will include representatives from government and regulatory bodies, oil and gas companies, expert practitioners, academics and medical experts who will come together with the goal of helping to prevent workplace injuries, maintain employee well-being and ensure sustainable environmental protection.
Lynda Armstrong OBE, Chair of the Trustees of the British Safety Council, joins as a member of the Forum's steering committee. Armstrong will be addressing the conference on leadership drawing on knowledge and expertise she developed while a Director of Exploration for an oil and gas major. Her presentation will cover topics from the mass of evidence generated by the investigations into recent major incidents and from the considerable learning flowing from the construction of the London 2012 Olympic Games venue and supporting infrastructure.
Lynda Armstrong said: “The health, safety and environmental challenges facing the oil and gas sector across the globe are immense. The 9th Annual HSE Forum in Energy provides the opportunity for oil and gas leaders, senior managers and other key players in the sector to come together to share knowledge, explore best practice and have opportunity to hear from experts and sector leaders on the approach and the measures that are key to continuous improvement. I look forward to meeting fellow HSE colleagues in Doha.”
The 2013 conference program themed, “Reflective Practise: Promoting Collective Responsibility”, will help inspire delegates to drive a change in their organisation through a visible commitment to continuous improvement and leading by example. The panel of speakers is drawn from organisations at the cutting edge in health and safety and environmental management in the oil and gas sector including Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas, Dolphin Energy, RasGas, BP and Saudi Aramco. Other contributing organisations include the World Health Organisation, global law firm Pinsent Masons and the British Occupational Hygiene Society.
The 9th Annual HSE Forum in Energy is supported by Qatar Petroleum and endorsed by the American Society of Safety Engineers, the British Safety Council, IOSH & IPIECA.
