    The British Safety Conference recent conference focussed on the vital contribution director responsibility and leadership, workforce engagement and safety culture have to play in ensuring well managed health and safety. An impressive array of expert speakers shared their knowledge and experience of what leading organisations and their workers are doing to drive good health and safety.

    The British Safety Council launched a new report at the conference, "Transforming the culture of workplace health and safety", detailing the approach to leadership, workforce engagement and safety culture adopted by five of our Sword of Honour winning organisations - adidas, Dawn Group, Diageo Packaging, Linklaters and Magnox Wylfa.

    Kier Group also spoke about its partnership with the British Safety Council to promote positive safety culture across its entire workforce.

    Other sessions provided an update of key legal developments concerning director and corporate responsibility including corporate manslaughter and offences and penalties. We also sessions from David Smeatham from HSE and Bud Hudspith from Unite the Union concerning the benefits of workforce engagement.

    The British Safety Council?s next conference, taking place on 22nd June in London, will focus on the essential task of preparing young people for the risk that they will face when entering the world of work and the health and safety of young workers generally. This is event is free to attend.
