BSC Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
How your grade is determined
Results for each component are reported as:
- Distinction
- Merit
- Pass
- Fail (above threshold)*
- Fail
* In order to pass a unit, a candidate must achieve a threshold mark of at least 40% in each component. The threshold mark is not the same as the pass mark.
It is possible to fail a component but still pass the unit (because of a particularly strong performance in the other component), provided that the candidate scores at least 40% (the threshold) in the failed component.
Unit 1
Unit results are reported as Distinction, Merit, Pass, Fail.
Unit 2
Component 1 (short-answer question paper) carries a weighting of 50% and Component 2 (assignment) carries a weighting of 50%. The marks for Components 1 and 2 are aggregated to give a mark for the unit as a whole. Unit results are reported as Distinction, Merit, Pass, Fail.
Candidates who fail the unit may resit one or both components in order to achieve a unit pass.
Unit 3
Unit results are reported as Distinction, Merit, Pass, Fail.
